| As the founder of Oceans Of People, and as an individual who is aware of paid online dating sites, I would like to share some of the reasons why I personally took the step to create this site. |

| Firstly, I personally believe that paid dating sites are ridiculously over charging. |
| Secondly, there are existing free online dating sites which are pretty good but seem to have focused themselves towards changing their memberships to a fee based service. |
| Thirdly, I have a personal interest and have been learning on how to develop websites for over a year and have assembled a great team to make this happen. |
| Fourthly, my long-term goal is not to be the largest website or take away users from other online dating sites either, but to provide another alternative service which will ultimately combine my interest for helping and supporting social causes. |
| Lastly, this site will never charge users a penny for accessing and enjoying the services but in return I do ask users like yourself to spread the word of this site and our mandate. |

| My Background: |
| My background includes both ‘Social’ and ‘Business’ experience. I have been working in the non-profit social sector for over 14 years, creating projects related to Social Causes and Social Business Ventures to help improve the lives of people and their communities. A sample of the various projects in which have created, designed and administered includes: |

| Program for High Risk Youth- providing opportunities such as Life Skills, Employment Skills, Training Enhancement to vulnerable youth who are in poverty to increase their social and economic prosperity. |
| Program for vulnerable women who have gone through difficult relationships and providing them with professional support through counselling, training and employment opportunities to break their cycle of hardships. |
| Project for helping newcomers adjust to a new country by providing information on settlement issues, credential upgrading, accessing reliable training programs and finding meaningful employment. |
| Project for dealing with equality, racism and discrimination. Creating greater awareness on conscious and unconscious bias that we all have and how to overcome systemic barriers where everyone is recognized for their value. |

Thus far, I have worked with thousands of people through my career either through direct counselling or through the development of social programs in which I have created. While my most of my professional life has been working towards helping people to building healthier communities, my personal goal (always in the back of my mind) has been to have a successful venture that supports social causes without being reliant on government funding.
The expenses for this site have come out of my own pocket and have invested a lot of ‘Sweat Equity’ which includes spending 100’s of hours learning this foreign language called computer programming to make this site happen- certainly not a programmer and but do have an excellent team behind me. I’m going to continue operating this site as a free service and hope in the future that I will be able to bridge the gap between my interests in website and development with my professional background relate to social causes. |
